I practised my editing techniques by using Premier Pro by accessing a folder containing pictures of our school prom and dragging them onto the workspace in premier pro. I then downloaded a song with lots of quick beats in which is similar to the opening of my song. I wanted to relate the task to music video theory.Kaplan identified music videos as a post-modern form of the media. This means that they subverted of disregarded the expected conventions of film-making. For example, editing in music videos is meant to be noticed whereas continuity editing in the majority of other visual media such as film was not. Kaplan also recognised that music videos were a hybrid form as they were part advertisement and part entertainment. I wanted the editing techniques to be obvious.I wanted to practise editing titles over the top of images as well so I can use song lyrics in my music video, this has been used in various videos by popular artists. I made the title on premier pro and edited it so it would appear when the beat came in and then go when the picture changed. In terms of editing I would zoom in on the wavelength of the music in the audio section of premier pro and insert the pictures over the top so they would appear when the beat came in. Referring to the aforementioned video theorists I have applied elements of Keazor and Wubenna's work as there is
- a high frequency of cuts
- visual effects
- graphic elements
- synchronization of editing to the beat
Below I have inserted the piece of video I completed on editing to the beat which as been uploaded onto Youtube.
