Me as a consumer of music

As a consumer of music, I tend to use various devices to listen to music dependent on where I am. The most frequent time is when walking home from school or when studying with headphones in; for both I use headphones connected to my phone. When playing a video game I occasionally connect headphones to my laptop and listen to music.

I try to avoid purchasing physical copies of music as, while some people enjoy the aesthetic of collecting vast libraries of CD and vinyls, I find the clutter and stress of losing them frustrating. Instead, I pay a monthly subscription to Spotify's premium account which means i can download music to my phone reducing its mobile data bill. It also means i can access hundreds of songs at the touch of a button. As my laptop is a Macbook I also have access to Apple Music which is useful when downloading songs to be played for school work such as in a power point presentation or video

I am interested in various genres of music. Mainly due to the influence of people around me. I tend to conform to the songs my peers listen to when I am with them in a group such as in  a car, unfortunately this consists of Grime music which I was originally not a fan of but have eventually come to enjoy some aspects of it. I prefer American style Rappers such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar but also enjoy Indie Rock music from Britain such as Arctic Monkeys, due to my dad being a big admirer of them, this may have influenced my style of music growing up as well as having friends that play in an Indie Rock band.

I don't enjoy music without lyrics such as most Drum and Bass song's as I feel there is a withdrawal of feeling as the artist is not expressing themselves as much. I also dislike classical music as the tempo is very slow and mundane.
